Beginning therapy can be the most vulnerable and brave step a person can take towards getting the help they deserve. It can be overwhelming to think of opening up to a new therapist about one’s innermost challenges without knowing if they will judge you or invalidate you altogether. That is why I strive to provide all my clients with a safe and affirming space, because I believe that creating safety is the cornerstone of developing the foundation of a good therapeutic relationship which is one of the most important aspects that helps clients achieve their goals.
As a contextual therapist, I believe that change is best facilitated by exploring one’s family of origin relationships and tracking patterns in current relationships to help understand how to work towards healing past wounds and strengthening current relationships within oneself and with others. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process because if partners, peers, family members, or chosen family members are part of the healing process in therapy, we will be able to work more effectively together to uncover problematic cycles, create realistic and individualized coping skills that work for you, and have emotionally corrective experiences together.
I also use techniques from other theoretical models such as EFT, ACT, and DBT to work alongside individuals, couples, and families to help them cope with new or difficult life transitions, depression episodes, heal from loss, and learn new tools to enhance communication and assist in relationship repair to help them meet their goals in therapy. I am also completing my training in EMDR as well to help individuals heal from complex trauma or traumatic experiences. I am not afraid to sit with you in the trenches and create space for you to process your experiences, talk about the hard things, or even laugh at the ridiculousness that life sometimes throws at us. I look forward to working together and walking alongside you on your healing journey.
